I honestly watch this clip at least once every six months. And I know it sounds ridiculous, but can someone explain to me how this wouldn't actually work? 😂😂
Because it’s 3D, scaling up the parts is exponentially more expensive. To put it roughly, scaling up a 1/18th scale toy to full size isn’t multiplying it by 18 but actually by 18^3 (roughly 6000 times). So the value proposition is gone. Then you’d have to account for increased manufacturing costs, more engineering to make it road safe, etc, and at that point they’ve just made a whole real car for probably multiple times the money that an actual car manufacturer would have.

I remember when I was younger I fully believed his idea would work. I actually ran and asked my dad, my toy Hot Wheels on hand, "why didn't they do that?" And my dad responded that if they went with his ideas then we would have to push around our cars similar to the toy cars.

That last part hasn't aged well. All cars are like that now, so that Cadillac was kinda ahead of the curve. I hate crossovers but they're all the rage now. Big boots, high driving position so people can feel tough and superior, and easy to get in and out of. I can see why they caught on despite no offroad capability or 7 seats.
